Position Description
Ainley Group is seeking a Senior Highway Engineer to join our Belleville, Kingston, or Ottawa office. This role allows you to use your technical expertise to plan, design, and oversee transportation network projects within a collaborative and dynamic design team. You will coordinate with clients, manage projects, and mentor junior staff while ensuring high-quality deliverables.
The specifics of the position are as follows:
Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage the preliminary and detailed designs and oversee the construction administration associated with highway design projects for the Ontario Ministry of Transportation.
- Lead local and regional teams in the preparation and submission of expressions of interest and proposals to source new highway design projects.
- Supervise other designers and technical support staff engaged in the design of highways.
- Assisting with the training, mentoring, assessing and recruiting of staff; and
- Liaise with clients, sub-consultants, contractors and construction supervision staff.
Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed in Ontario with a minimum of 12 years of relevant design experience, with focus on MTO projects.
- Established reputation and professional relationships with MTO and Ontario municipalities.
- Experience in planning, preliminary design, detailed design, and construction administration of new or rehabilitated divided highways, arterial, and collector roads.
- Proficiency with Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications (OPSS) and drawings (OPSD), TAC and MTO design standards, specifications, policies, Highway Costing System (HiCo), and Contract Preparation System (CPS).
- Experience meeting requirements for MTO RAQS registration as Key Personnel is an asset.
- Independent, organized, and motivated team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and projects.

Compensation: $120,000 – $165,000 per year
Final compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s specialized experience and technical skill set. While the provided range serves as a general baseline, we take a holistic approach to defining final offers.
