Position Description

Ainley Group is currently seeking a Project Design Engineer/Technologists to join our Barrie or Collingwood Office.  As the successful candidate, you will use your technical abilities to plan and design all aspects of municipal infrastructure projects in a dynamic team setting. 

The specifics of the position are as follows:

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepare preliminary and detailed designs for a variety of municipal infrastructure projects and oversee the construction administration associated with new and/or the rehabilitation of municipal transportation and servicing projects.
  • Prepare design calculations for sanitary sewers, watermains, and storm sewers/stormwater management facilities.
  • Prepare cost estimates, contract specifications, tender documents, and applications for approvals.
  • Liaise with clients, sub-consultants, contractors and construction supervision staff.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed in Ontario or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a municipal consulting engineering setting.  
  • Strong computer software skills including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Word, Excel & MS Project.
  • Experience in planning, preliminary design, detailed design, and construction administration associated with new and/or the rehabilitation of municipal infrastructure.
  • Skilled in cost estimating and specification writing.
  • A track record of gaining approval of infrastructure designs from municipal road authorities and review agencies.
  • Independent, organized and motivated team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and projects.

Compensation: $80,000 – $120,000 per year

Final compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s specialized experience and technical skill set. While the provided range serves as a general baseline, we take a holistic approach to defining final offers.
