Position Description
Ainley Group is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Belleville, Kingston, or Ottawa office. This role offers the opportunity to plan, design, and oversee municipal infrastructure projects within a collaborative and dynamic design team while interfacing with clients and project stakeholders.
The specifics of the position are as follows:
Responsibilities and Duties
- Prepare reports, preliminary and detailed designs, and oversee construction administration for new or rehabilitated municipal infrastructure, including divided highways, arterial and collector roads, local roads, and bike trails.
- Prepare contract specifications, tender documents, and applications for approvals.
- Review and issue finalized shop drawings.
- Coordinate and mentor junior staff within the department.
- Liaise with clients, sub-consultants, contractors, and construction supervision staff.
- Assist with preparation of proposals for future projects.
Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed in Ontario with a minimum of 7 years of relevant design office experience.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Word, Excel, and MS Project.
- Experience in planning, preliminary design, detailed design, and construction administration for municipal infrastructure projects.
- Skilled in cost estimating and specification writing.
- Demonstrated success in gaining approvals from authorities and environmental agencies.
- Independent, organized, and motivated team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and projects effectively.
- Experience completing Municipal Class EAs for water, wastewater, and road infrastructure projects is an asset.

Compensation: $80,000 – $140,000 per year
Final compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s specialized experience and technical skill set. While the provided range serves as a general baseline, we take a holistic approach to defining final offers.
