Position Description
Ainley Group is seeking a proactive Human Resources Manager to serve as a foundational leader for our HR function. This is a unique opportunity for a strategic builder to establish robust systems from the ground up, shaping the workplace culture of a growing, multi-disciplinary engineering firm.
The specifics of the position are as follows:
Responsibilities and Duties
- Strategic Leadership & Advisory
- Develop and execute HR strategies that align with Ainley Group’s long-term business objectives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the President & CEO, Senior Management, and Department Heads on all people-related matters.
- Lead the transition toward modern HRIS solutions to streamline operations and data-driven reporting.
- Policy, Compliance & Total Rewards:
- Draft and Implement: Create company-wide policies from scratch, ensuring they reflect our culture and comply with the Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA), OHSA, and AODA.
- Compensation: Manage total rewards strategies, including salary benchmarking, benefits administration, and performance-based incentive programs.
- Payroll Oversight: Provide high-level coordination for payroll in collaboration with the finance team.
- Employee Relations & Culture:
- Engagement: Foster a high-performance, engaging culture through recognition programs and transparent internal communication.
- Conflict Resolution: Manage employee relations with a solution-oriented approach, including conducting investigations and mediations when necessary.
- Health & Wellness: Promote a culture of safety and well-being, coordinating closely with Health & Safety Committees to implement wellness initiatives.
- Talent Management:
- Acquisition: Lead the full recruitment lifecycle—from developing technical job descriptions to conducting high-level interviews.
- Development: Identify training needs and coordinate professional development programs to foster career growth within the firm.
- Onboarding: Design and manage a seamless onboarding experience that integrates new hires into the Ainley culture from day one.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Designation: CHRP or CHRL designation is strongly preferred.
- Experience: 7–10 years of progressive HR experience. Experience within the engineering, construction, or professional consulting sectors is a significant asset.
- Legal Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Ontario employment legislation (ESA, OHSA, Human Rights Code).
- Technical Skill: Demonstrated experience building HR policies and systems from the ground up in a mid-sized organizational environment.
- Mindset: A desire to be a key member of a solution-oriented, multi-disciplinary team with the autonomy to drive change.

Compensation: $120,000 – $160,000 per year
Final compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s specialized experience and technical skill set. While the provided range serves as a general baseline, we take a holistic approach to defining final offers.
